A-Levels in Door Security
Door staff to take A-Levels. Cumbria based Pro-tect UK Security & Training has teamed up with Rutherford Training Consultants to introduce the new Security Management Qualification to its staff. This BTEC Level 3 programme in Security Management (Head Door Supervision), which is endorsed by Edexcel, is aimed at head door staff and those wanting to progress within the industry.
Pro-Tect UK, based in Carlisle, are the first company in the Cumbria & Borders area to enrol its staff on a qualification of this standard, and in turn aim to lead the way within the security industry when it comes to the standard of service delivered to its clients as a result of enhanced training courses such as this. The course modules include subjects such as Terror Threat Awareness, Grievance and Discipline, Escorting Duties, Team Leadership and Actions on Planning.
Pro-Tect UK’s Managing Director John Lee Jeffrey said “this training course is really in depth and has the content required assisting in preparing our staff for the realistic demands that they may encounter when in a security management role. I have personally sat in on this course, and the information on things like Team Leadership & terror threat awareness is something that a lot of staff takes for granted. Covering these subjects opened everyone’s eyes on this course. We have already had one successful course and successfully trained ten of our staff, and as a result we are now onto our second course, which we have enrolled another 12 of our staff on.”
RTC’s Managing Director, Mr Ian Rutherford said “The initial feedback that we have received from throughout the UK since this course was launched, has been phenomenal, this proves the need for continual professional development within our industry.”
Our real concern is in improving the ability and skill sets of those individuals who are responsible for running the security in our Bars and clubs, in other words Head Door Supervisors.
