Security Firm is Pub Chain's Top Supplier

The following story about The Rutherford Group was featured in The Cornish Guardian on Wednesday, August 17, 2011:

"A Wadebridge security company has won a national award as a client's supplier of the year. iNTERTAIN UK Ltd, which owns Walkabout Inns, Highlight Bars and Old Orleans Bars throughout the UK, presented the award to Ian Rutherford, director of the Rutherford Group, and operations manager Steve Blinston at a suppliers' meeting in Cardiff.

The Rutherford Group beat international suppliers including Sky Sports, Sky News, Red Bull, Smirnoff Ice and Fosters to bring the Supplier of the Year award back to Cornwall. Mr Rutherford said: "The basic Security Industry Authority training is no longer enough to secure contracts and succeed in meeting customer requirements.

"Over the past five years we've developed security-specific training, accredited by Edexcel and Skills For Security, to improve the skills of our workforce who are now trained in all areas of security provision including first aid, customer service, security management, risk assessment and counter-terrorism awareness.

"It's been an excellent year so far. Our RISC Security company goes from strength to strength and the training arm, Rutherford Training Consultants, secured the contract for the Olympic park in Stratford, London, training all security personnel on site in counter-terrorism awareness for G4S and the London Olympic Organising Committee, Locog.

"The Rutherford Group would like to express its warmest thanks to all partners and colleagues who have assisted with its success," he said."
